Coco is just coming up on 8 weeks, so I figure now is as good a time as any to try and introduce her to a bottle. This is a dream of mine, that she will willingly take one, so that I can get more than an hour out of the house by myself and away from her, since we are breast-feeding. Sweet Pea never took to the bottle when she was little. I must’ve tried nearly every one out there, including this crazy-looking one recommended by my doula, but even that, with it’s promises that it would be as satisfying as mama’s breast, was a loser for us. This time around, I’m trying the starter kit from Dr. Brown. I think it’s the only one we didn’t try with our first daughter. I’m hopeful, to say the least…
Coco is still a champion sleeper at night. We gave up the swaddle a few weeks ago because it didn’t seem necessary for her. She’s a pretty calm baby and an easy sleeper, and so far the decision to stop swaddling has worked for us. Even during last night’s tremendous thunderstorm, with lightening that lit up our entire home for seconds on end, she never budged until her usual wake-up came around, about 3 am. I must’ve checked on her three times during that hour and a half, just to make sure she was still OK in her crib, the storm was that terrifying.
This morning, my husband took Sweet Pea to her class at The LIttle Gym, a welcome respite for me. I whisked Coco out to run a bunch of errands, including a trip to our local Target, my “happiest place on earth.” We didn’t do much damage at all, a first for us, it was more about just being out and among the living who had more in their lives than poopy diapers, 3 am feedings and discussions of anything else completely baby-centric.
