Each and every day, Pea is growing and learning. So much so that it blows my mind how much these little people take in and make sense of throughout the day, from minute to minute. And she’s always been a special soul, she is affectionate and friendly and shares readily. She’s always smiling and joyful and really just a delight to be around. But today, well, today she really just stole my breath away. We were putting together puzzles on the floor of her bedroom earlier this afternoon, and Coco was in there with us, too. Pea crawled up onto her big white chair and asked if she could hold her baby sister. I carefully placed Coco on Pea’s lap, and after a few minutes of cuddling, Coco started to fuss. Pea said, “Coco! Eat! Eat!” And with that, Pea pulled up her shirt and cradled her sister to her chest, just as she’s seen me do a thousand times. Oh my, I thought. She gets it. I mean she really, really gets it.
