I am a beauty product junkie. Chances are, if you can name it, I have tried it. Sometimes I wonder if my husband thinks that his sole purpose for working so hard is so that I can try literally each and every hair straightening product on the planet. And lip gloss. And shampoo, too. Come to think of it, last week in the shower, he saw me squirt what to me was a perfectly reasonable amount of shampoo into my hand, and declared “I know why you use so much shampoo… so you can finish up the bottle and move on to the next one!” Well, I have some news for him. I’ve passed this obsession on to my oldest daughter. That girl loves to groom.
She has an entire nighttime ritual and good luck trying to deviate from it. First, it’s a bubble bath (I know, not supposed to do that every night, so I hide the bottle once in a while, but tonight she said “where bubbles?” Needless to say, I caved…). At least we found a Mr. Bubble product at Target that has no fragrance or dyes in it. That has to help somewhat, right? And then it’s onto the washing of the hair, which we do every night. Honestly, in over two years of her life, there are only two nights she hasn’t had her hair washed. That’s pretty impressive, huh? We’ve tried practically every children’s shampoo on the market, and with the exception of the annual bout of eczema she comes down with every January (in which case we use this shampoo by Circle of Friends), we use this shampoo by Noodle & Boo. I discovered it when she was about 6 months old, and I think it has coconut in it. Whatever it is, the smell is divine and it treats her precious curls very gently. I’ve just started using it with my youngest daughter too, and interestingly enough, on her head it smells more flowery than tropical. Go figure.

After her bath, she brushes her teeth and then we comb the Noodle & Boo Conditioning Hair Polish through her hair to tame those curls (also good for getting rid of bed-head in the morning). And then it’s into her bedroom for her “baby massage.” We are currently using this lotion by Curel, which smells incredible. And since she spends her days covered in sun-block and bug spray, I really want to moisturize her skin well over night, and I swear in the morning, her skin is still moist. It’s amazing.
If you are ever in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and see a mom sniffing her daughter’s heads over and over, that’ll be me…
