Right after having my second baby, Coco, I made a promise to myself that I was not going to be that mom anymore… the one who lives her life in sweats. Having two pregnancies so close together, I never really got out of my pregnancy pants after the first go-around, with Pea. And although technically they weren’t “pregnancy” sweats, but comfy velour sweats purchased in a size large, they were “pregnancy” in that they were all I wore during my second pregnancy, with Coco.
But still, I needed a new “uniform.” Something that was comfortable that I could mindlessly throw on during one of those morning rushes when I don’t have time (or energy) to put much thought into what I’m wearing. But these items had to look good, too. And then, I stumbled upon this website, called Shop Bop. I am not really sure how I found them, maybe a link from Perez Hilton’s website (a guilty pleasure of mine, shh…)? But I am glad that I found them, nonetheless. Not only do they have awesome mark-downs on some of my favorite designers (Vince, Theory & Katayone Adeli, to name just a few), but they have their own line, called Bop Basics. Within this line, I found a style called “Istanbul.” There is a pant style and a shorts style, and I bought one of each. Pricey, I know, but so worth it and in keeping with my theory of quality not quantity. The fabric is amazing, so soft and washable and both the shorts and the pants are convertible – they roll up, giving you the option to go super-short with the shorts (on a good leg day, of course) and to opt to wear the pants as a capri. They are also adjustable around the waist which is ideal for my particular situation, a mama who is losing the baby weight and so is shrinking at a fairly regular pace. These pants and shorts can shrink with me for quite some time, making them more than worth their cost. Comfy and chic – my absolute favorite combination as a busy mama…
