Today is what can only be described as glorious. We found this amazing little beach on a natural lake that had water that was the warmest I’ve ever been in outside of a bathtub. It was very quiet, just a small handful of people. It’s what I’d refer to as my natural habitat. I love to swim. And I love the water. But not just any water – I’m a sucker for natural bodies of water, be it a river, a lake or an ocean. I simply cannot resist and found myself several times fighting the urge to just dive in, even though I was not wearing a swimsuit. Having grown up in the generation that was forever changed by the “Jaws” franchise, I can pat my mother on the back for shielding me from those films, forever preserving my love of dark, mysterious waters. My mother, GiGi, was the original water bug and definitely passed that passion on to me.

And Pea, well someone told us when she was in utero that she was a dolphin baby. They were not kidding. She, too, loves the water. She takes multiple baths every day, loves to get in any pool and so we were so excited to introduce her to this fantastic lake. She showed a little trepidation at first but she quickly warmed to it and ventured out quite a ways on her own, splashing and taking it all in. I was so happy for her, my little mermaid, when I saw how much she felt it. It was incredible.
Tomorrow, we are going back. This time, we will bring our bathing suits.
