halloweenie

Pea’s first Halloween – well, technically it’s her third, but it’s the first one that she knows exists. This can be proven with her request for Smarties from the Halloween goody basket awaiting tonight’s trick-or-treaters by the front door. I wasn’t going to give them to her, either. But then she said “trick or treat, mommy.” And well, that was pretty much it for my iron will. So, she had a slice of whole wheat toast, a smoothie and Smarties for breakfast.

Anyway, she’s been building up to tonight over the past few days. Now that she knows what “treats” are, I’m fairly certain she will also ask to go trick-or-treating tomorrow night, and the night after that, and the night after that, and, well, you get the picture.

So here we are, a dry run of tonight’s costume:

Technically, it’s not a costume but rather an outfit that her dad brought back with him from Honolulu a few months ago. But I realized, just a week or so ago, that my God! this would be a perfect costume! And that I could now cross “find Pea’s Halloween costume” off of my never-ending to do list.

Although there’s now a little chill in the air, so we will be wearing the coconut bra over a white tank top. But it’s so cute, no?

Trick-or-treat!
