We took the girls to the state fair this afternoon. I’m usually not one for crowded places like a huge fair, but it’s kind of a big deal here. We couldn’t resist the guy who does the caricatures. I was reluctant at first, mostly because the drawings they always have up at the booth creep me out – famous people looking like wigged out cartoons of themselves. The whole thing just kind of screams of those paintings from the 70’s of the little kids with the giant eyes. Remember those? But we did it anyway, because we both remembered our own childhoods. They were without caricatures of ourselves! Can you imagine? At the time, they seemed like a rite of passage, but BOTH of our mothers didn’t think we needed them! Aargh! So we had one done for Pea, so as not to traumatize her sometime down the road, and I have to say that the artist so completely captured her – pouty mouth, bright blue eyes and all. I’m kind of smitten with it.
