multi-tasking

There’s not a lot of time in my house for me and my immensely intricate grooming habits these days. If I want to get in a shower, I need to do it somewhere around 6:30 in the morning, before the girls are up, because once they start calling for me, my chance to bathe is gone. But I’m usually pretty exhausted from going to Coco all night, she who is still a nighttime nurser – to the tune of every two hours or so – and so 6:30 quickly turns into 6:45 then 6:50… and then I’m finally in the shower but have very little time for the deep conditioning that my coarse hair needs, the scrub and the mask I like to use on my face a few times a week. It’s basically wash, shampoo, condition and out. Unless it’s summer, I do not shave my legs often. At all. What’s the point, right? It takes too much time. That can of shave gel in the shower is pretty much fused to the shelf right now, that’s how little use it’s seen in the last couple of months. And while I am a fan of waxing small parts of my body, I tried having my legs waxed. Once. I left the spa with one smooth strip on my left leg and that was it. The pain was much too much to bear, and believe me, I have an unbelievably high tolerance for pain. But waxing my legs? So not worth it. My poor husband…

But my husband can now thank his lucky stars that I found this little Venus razor. It has shave gel built right into two pads that line the top and the bottom of the blade. And when the pads wear out, you toss the blade and pop in a new one. This little thing is amazing. I can’t even believe how quickly I can shave my legs now. They are soft and smooth when I finish and not at all itchy, which I was afraid of. Because really, the thought of shaving without a separate can of shave gel is just weird. But this little gadget is going to get a lot of use in my shower. I can use it during that one minute that I’m waiting for my conditioner to work. I’m pretty sure my husband is going to be grateful for this little item.

    Hi,
I really relate to these blog topic and look forward reading more. I would also like your opinion regarding some of the topics on my blog.

Shaving my legs is something I wish I never had to do but I am too much of a wimp to go have them waxed. I found the Intuition razor with everything built in a few years ago and would never use the other again. Unless desperate I might use my husband’s for instance when I realize right before we have somewhere to go that I let mine sit too long and the strips are gone and the blade is rusted! He would of course have a fit if he knew I used his but I think that he would of been more disgusted if I wore the dress without shaving.

Coco is just shy of 9 months old. And it’s not her real name. It’s what her big sis called her when she was a baby. She had trouble saying her name. She can say it clearly now, the nickname just stuck around.

I am having that very problem today (showering) … I suppose I could be doing that right now instead of blogging. :)

I love the Venus, too, by the way.

How old is Coco? Is that her real name?

Thanks for the sweet comment on my blog… I hope you stick around. You asked about the kurtas that Laiq was wearing in those wedding pics, my parents are from Pakistan, so all of the clothes we wear to cultural events come from there. My dad actually brought those back for him when he was there last spring. Let me know if you ever want any for your girls…

Oh and I’m like you, summer or not, I only shave when I absolutely have to. You know it’s been a while when your shaving can leaves a rust ring in your shower! I used to spend a fortune getting EVERYTHING waxed, but those days are long gone. I use Venus too… but I don’t like the one with the built in strip, I feel like it wears thin so quickly, and it doesn’t give a close shave, plus I got more knicks with it. But hey if it keeps your legs silky smooth, I’m sure your hubby likes it! It’s funny how they ask us to groom ourselves… I’m a lot overdue on a pedicure and mine’s been pushing me out the door to get one!

I hate the itchy leg thing after shaving! It really works? Really? I think this is a product that is in my future…

I tried the Venus a couple of years ago, when it first came out, but I didn’t like it. It was too messy. Maybe they’ve improved it – I’ll have to check it out again.

I, too, have to get up at about 6:30 if I want to have a decent shower. So, I know what you mean about managing “only the necessities”. Not shaving my legs…now I just think of it as really cheap birth control.
