So my husband waited on the check-out line for a half-hour (can you believe he was the next in line when the power went out? he guesses if he hadn’t had to call me to ask about the whole scallions vs. green onions thing he’d have been out the door with a trunk full of groceries…) before he’d had enough. He put a big sign on the cart with his name and phone number and asked one of the clerks to put it in back in the giant refrigerator and he’d come back for it when the lights came back on.
He came home and called the grocery store for the next ninety minutes. When they finally answered, we loaded up the car with the girls and headed over there to retrieve our cart and check out.
But there was no cart. Well, there was no our cart. There were lots of other carts. But somehow, ours had been unloaded and restocked.
And while I stood up front pouting and wondering how could this happen? why our cart? (and silently vowing never to shop this particular store again because, you know, that’ll show ‘em!) my husband was already back in the check-out line with all of the groceries. We are talking Super Grocery-Getter Man. A new kind of action hero. It was exciting. Very, very exciting.
Have a very Merry Christmas!

I can’t believe the power went out at the grocery store! But you sound just like me! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve vowed never to shop at certain stores every again. Usually while my husband is fixing whatever went wrong!
Although I do so love the grocery store, this is indeed what I would call a nightmare. You poor people! And, yes, why your cart?
And, may I say, your frittata sounds yummy! I even say that after complaining about food! But, at heart, I love food. So I will also say your peppered bacon sounds great, too.
Merry Christmas!
