Latte Mommy and I have a lot in common. I joke that she is the Canadian “me” and I am the American “her.” Parallel lives here, folks. And her site is always good for a relatable laugh. She tagged me to do another one of those “meme” things, which you know I am a sucker for. Here goes…
How long have you been blogging?
I’ve been at this since April of 2007. I can’t believe it’s been almost one year. Time flies.
What inspired you to start your blog, and who are your mentors?
My husband, actually. He wanted me to find a creative outlet, and since I’m not much on scrap-booking or knitting, he decided for me that this would be fun. I’m glad I listened to him. I don’t always, but he’s usually right in the end. So around the time my youngest was 5 weeks old, my awesome husband started designing my site. The initial one was really cool but he got carried away and decided to turn the real design of it over to a professional. It was basically an incredible gift that he gave me, I got to work with the designer very closely on how I wanted the site to look, and she just brought it to life for me. I feel badly saying this. but, I’m already bored with it… wanting to change it up a little more. My husband says at the one year mark…
And my mentors? Hmm… I don’t know that I have any mentors in the traditional sense. Although I am inspired every day by the blogs of the women that I read. They are raising families, carving out lives for themselves, some of them are professionals on top of it all. I dig reading about their journeys through motherhood. They all do it with humor, style and grace. Oh, and Kate Hudson. Does she count? I don’t actually know her, but she inspires me to try a little harder when I get dressed in the morning. So it’s like she’s my mommy style mentor. I wish I could put together an ensemble like she does. She makes it look so effortless. She is the anti-soccer-mom mama. I appreciate that…
Are you trying to make money on-line, or are you just doing it for fun?
You know, I’m really not. I’m just doing it because I’m enjoying it. I think it’s fun. I like the connections I’ve made with other women. It’s a nice way for me to end my day. I mean that very, very sincerely. That being said, never say never…
What 3 things do you love about being on-line?
1) Definitely the community of like-minded women I’ve come across. That’s amazing…
2) It’s something I can do any time of the day (or night). It’s just so readily available…
3) The possibilities are endless…
What 3 things do you struggle with on-line?
1) People who leave nasty comments! You don’t have to agree with me. I welcome a polite discourse. But when people get nasty and personal, ugh. I’m so turned off. It can literally wreck my day, and that sucks.
2) Sometimes I get a “parsing failure” message when I’m trying to post. Inevitably, it happens when my husband is on an international flight, somewhere over a very large body of water. I have no idea what it means, but it really freaks me out.
3) Shopping? Does that count? I like to do it on-line. A lot.
So now I have to tag some people. This is a no-pressure meme, so do not feel obligated to do it. That being said, let’s see if we can get Lulu Fabulous, Erin, Milena the Gypsy at Heart and Robyn to give it a go…

That’s so sweet of your husband. I feel the same way about my blog, it’s blogger, therefore, totally cookie-cutter… but I’m on the waiting list with a designer for a revamp, for my one year anniversary! My husband made me wait til the one year mark as well. Who did you have design this site? It’s so cute I love it.
That’s so funny about you being tired of your site’s look. I get tired of mine all the time, but I use blogger, so it is way easy to change the template or just the colors anytime I feel like it (which seems to be often)!
