I love creative types. Artists, writers, musicians. People who create beautiful things have a real gift, and a talent that I envy. I’m not terribly creative. I wish that I was, and I hope to change that, but for now, I leave the painting up to my little Pea, the music up to my little Pea, as well. I’m hoping that Coco will follow suit shortly.
But when we needed new address cards, I went straight to Meredith. It was a no-brainer. In addition to just liking her as a person, I admire her as an artist. I’ve watched her work evolve over the past 8 or so months via her site and think she is very talented. She makes paper creations that will blow your mind. Detailed, beautiful color combinations and just inspiring. So when I asked her if she’d do our families’ cards, she said yes. I didn’t want to give her too much guidance, I just wanted to give her the important points: think nature, think earthy… and then just do it. Create!
And she did. We received our finished cards yesterday and let me just say that our socks were knocked off…

Here it is. It’s a pocket and the little paper with the brown ribbon attached pulls out like this:

You can see it behind the larger card. It has all of our new contact information on it. Clever? Beautiful? One-of-a-kind? Me? Yes, yes, yes and yes!
Thanks, Meredith. You managed to create what I could never have verbalized. It’s so me, so us…

A new subject to blog….These Moms Can SING!
My name is Spencer Weddle, I love music and I own a small publishing company, Silver Girl Productions.
I ran across your webpage, and found it very interesting. This may seem a bit out of the norm for you
(from what I can see) but I thought I would drop this note to you. Here in Kentucky there is a group of
musicians that have a wonderful CD that is soon to be released. They are talented musicians that
have a true story of their lives to tell through their original music. There are many things I could tell you
about them, but the work speaks clearly for itself.
Here is a link to their webpage. (Don’t let the name fool you)

Respectfully,
Spencer Weddle
Ps. I hope you enjoy this, Track #5 is my favorite “Taking Care of Mama” (another true and ongoing story)
Ah….I was just shopping in a stationary store this afternoon, looking for note cards embossed with a monkey….didn’t find them. drat. Also, did not anything this remotely beautiful, elaborate, and original. The recipients of these cards are going to consider themselves lucky….way to create something that will not be thrown out!
Milena,
They are handmade. Each and every detail was done by Meredith’s hand. There are so many layers of materials and ribbon and twine and stamps and she did each and every one of the 25 cards by hand. Amazing, isn’t it? She is really gifted. She’s also made me a notebook and pen that I carry around with me EVERYWHERE to jot things down on, just as beautiful as the cards, with layers of papers and ribbons. Definitely check out her work… (I’m also having her do correspondence cards for both of my girls.)
Melissa, are these printed or are they hand made? They look amazing. Let me go check Meredith out. I loved her work. And, of course you are artistic. What do you call your blog then if not an artistic endeavor? Putting words together well is absolute art and you do it with imagination, panache and your trademark self. That spells A.R.T.I.S.T to me.
those rock! meredith has made cards for me, too. did you know that you can lay a label right over hers on the back? mine say: made with love by nita, not meredith. want me to print some for you, too?!
congrats on the move. your gift is that you’ve probably made it feel like home already
I love both of your blogs and admire both of you. Ugh hem, Melissa, you are creative as well so don’t forget to pat your self on the back. You can spin a lovely story and share your real life stories everyday in a creative way. So there… you are creative! Love the cards. I can imagine peole putting the tags on their fridg or address books.
Hey Melissa – Thanks so much for the very generous kudos and accolades!! I really LOVED creating something for you, for your family, with your new surroundings in mind. I love making beautiful things for beautiful people. It’s inspiring and gratifying all at the same time. Thanks for being such a great friend. I’m thrilled to have met you.
