my guy’s feet

My husband goes through shoes very quickly. When he’s on the job, he can literally be on his feet for 20 hours a day. Comfort is key. But on show day, he likes to dress up a little bit, so it’s not like he can just wear tennis shoes, which would be the ideal shoe. And of course, we could pack him an extra pair of shoes, but he’s all about minimizing his time at the airport. His rule is: 5 days or less and it’s a carry-on bag. It’s not my favorite rule since I’m the one who does the packing. It’s not easy getting five days worth of clothing into a carry-on.

The other problem we have is that he wears a size 14 shoe. This is not a joke. And although he’d probably say, “no, I wear a size 13…” I can say that it is a rare occurrence when he can wear a 13. But when you get into shoe sizes that high it doesn’t really matter anyway, there’s not much difference between a 13 and a 14. No matter what he asks for at a shoe store, chances are they’re not going to have his choice in either size.

But we got lucky. At our neighborhood shoe store a couple of days ago, we struck gold. Not only did they have his boot of choice in his size, it was the last of about four choices we requested. But personally, I’m glad that they didn’t have the first three in stock, because the Ariat Rambler that he ended up buying is incredible. In a shout out to his Texas roots, it’s a cowboy boot. But in another shout out to his work life on his feet, it’s a comfort shoe. And in a final shout out to the slippery sidewalks of our snowy hometown, it’s rugged and won’t have him falling on his bottom any time soon.

I’m a sucker for a guy in a cowboy boot.

I just called my husband to ask him about the boots. He estimates from the sole up to the top, they are about 9 inches tall. He says that they come up a little past his shins, but that they aren’t as tall as traditional cowboy boots. But he says the height is not an issue for him. He loves them. Will not take them off. They look really good on him, too.

On another note, did you ask me a while back about the cucumber in the Amazing Cosmetics concealer? If so, I’m sorry I never answered your question. I don’t notice the cucumber smell in the product, but then again I am not sensitive to that particular scent. However, the amount you need to use is so tiny that I have to admit, I don’t really smell much of anything.

    Hope this helps you!

Melissa, how high do these boots come up on the leg? I can’t tell from the picture. (My husband wants some boots and these look fabulous, but he doesn’t want “short boots.”)

I love boots myself – can wear them out though. Usually resole and put on new heels at once or twice. I agree with your husband though. When I fly it is one bag and a laptop – and usually just a backpack for the clothes if possible.

    Shannon,

My husband works in the entertainment industry. He’s on the production side, hence the agonizingly long hours on his feet…

I clicked on the link, and you’re right, they not only look comfortable, but also ruggedly stylish!

I would always rather use carryon rather than checking luggage, last time I went to Houston, they lost my bag. What I really want to know is how you manage to pack five days worth of clothes into a carryon….

I can’t believe someone else has the same size shoes as MY husband! My hubby isn’t on his feet all day like yours, but he sure wears shoes out fast, also! In fact, I’ve been driving around with his big boats in my backseat for a week b/c I offered to bring them to a cobbler to get them re-soled. SO much cheaper than replacing!

Now those are some giant feet! Glad you found something that works! What does your husband do? I understand if you’d rather not share this type of info – just curious.
