It seems to me that the universal theme of bloggers is that they love words, in all their manners of conveyance… books, magazines, newspapers, blogs. Am I right? My husband seems to think so. He gave me a book called “Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation” recently, and I just started to read it last night and can’t put it down.
It’s about punctuation. Yes, you read that correctly. Punctuation. Oh my God, how boring? That’s what you’re thinking, right? But it’s the complete opposite of boring. It’s fascinating and exciting and titillating. I’m not kidding. Seriously. If you like words as much as I do, you really, really need to get your hands on a copy of this book.

This book is in the bibliography of my master’s paper.
I read it a few months ago….loved it too! You may also like the Elements of Style, Illustrated version. Another writer’s bible.
I love love love that book! I even have my 15-yr old reading it.
Wow – I didn’t realize how many other “punctuation snobs” there were besides me!! You’d probably enjoy one of my favorite blogs: Unnecessary Quotation Marks
It’s always good for a laugh!
Doesn’t sound boring at all-I’m checking it out!
This week we’ve been talking about the importance of paying attention to punctuation while reading with my 2nd graders… and yes, I agree that book is a good read!
You are right!
Sounds like this book would be good for me and my journalist hubby. Thanks for the recommendation!
Hubby already thinks I’m annoying in how I proofread EVERYTHING. With a book to back me up…watch out!
Ordering right now. Sounds great!!
One of my favorite books.
