My mother says I used to call horses perrones (big dogs in Spanish) for the longest time. My son, like Pea calls them he, he, he, hes and then he finishes it off with something that resembles a snort. You can interpret that as the sound of neighing. I'd never seen a child so quick to comply as when he waited for half and hour a few months back to just ride a pony. This love of animals that children have is innate and mostly untainted by fear. I wish I were a horsey person myself. Perhaps I should do as you do with Pea. This photo of her with the book and those marvelous pictures enraptures even me. Loved this post.

Oh! One more comment on cute things kids say...my littlest brother used to call Winnie the Pooh "pear boo". It was SUPER cute, and we were all so bummed out the day he suddenly started calling him "pooh bear". Though since then he's learned that we think it's cute, so every once in a while he'll still call him pear boo.

Oh beautiful! I love horses too...there is just something so wonderful about them. I don't get to ride hardly ever (nothing short of a tragedy I assure you), but even being around them just fills my heart and lifts my spirit.

What a joy to see a child reading a book, instead of watching yet another nutty cartoon on tv!

I love the photo of Pea, so sweet. I so agree about horses they are magical. Even though I live in the city I've always wanted to own horse stables. One of my dreams is to own a place in Kentucky where it's lush and green and there are horses galore. I just need to find the $$ some where to do this and hire people to care for them as I don't know one thing about caring for a hourse. Wouldn't that be fun!
