hiking

We took Pea out this afternoon for her first official hike. Lucky for us, the property across the street from us is protected land and is filled with hiking trails of all levels. The beauty of it all is that it’s reserved for residents of our neighborhood, so it’s very quiet. We were the only people out there, and we brought along Atticus (see him on the right?) and our snow shoes. It was a lot of fun, a lot of snow and my hips are aching. I am out of shape.

Here’s the deal. For Father’s Day last year, I bought my husband a Gorillapod flexible tripod. He travels a lot and has a ridiculously fancy camera. The tripod will practically fit in his pocket. It’s flexible and wraps around just about anything to help you take a remote picture. But you know how we took this picture? With his camera wedged between two branches on a little tree. Nice…

This photo looks so wonderful that I, who am no friend of the cold nor the snow, actually WISHED, she was somewhere there. I’d heard of Gorilla Tripods. What kind of camera does the hubby have?

It’s funny to see all that snow! That particular day was the first day I had my kids outside without coats on!

    Erin,

It’s been warm, close to 50. I was in my parka and I was sweating. It was crazy. There’s still a lot of snow, we had flurries this morning, expecting another big snowstorm on Wednesday, but then it gets warm and everything starts to melt again!

We bought my father in law the gorilla tripod too-he doesn’t use it either. haha. It’s a great concept though. Perhaps we can ask for it back?

I know what you mean about being out of shape! We bike a lot in the spring/summer/fall months. I’m really looking forward to it.

    That’s a cute picture!

Wow – you do have a lot more snow than we do… and we live in Alberta! It was actually over 50 F (+10 C) yesterday and it felt pretty balmy for around here! Snow is kinda a distant memory already!

Yes, I also have recently discovered this tripod and have been itching to buy one. It looks so cool and so easy! But I was afraid it may not be as good as it claims, so it is nice to hear some feedback!

Not only is the scenery BEAUTIFUL, but I love the bangs you’re rocking and your husband is SO cute! We already knew what a beauty Pea is!

LOVE the camera in the tree angle. Maybe that’s what I need to do to start getting some family shots in…!

Look at you guys out playing in the snow!!! You guys are darling!

I must look into that tripod for Erick. Although with trees nearby, I guess it’s not necessary?? :)

i’ve been eying one of those tripods for a while now. I keep adding it to my Christmas list, but nope, no one gets it. Maybe my birthday this time around.
