I'm so glad you have some insight on the little one shows...we just discovered the Sprout network ourselves. Just a couple of months ago the TV was a novelty and they only watched videos in the car. Now the twins want to curl up on the sofa and watch Elmo. All the advice...good to know!

Personally, I think that you should do away with Dora too. My own kid imitates her chirpiness to perfection and let me tell you how that double voiced perkiness can waaaay and I do mean waaaaaaaay surpass any levels of irritation reached via whining alone. Besides, she's already learned how to count in Spanish so follow my advice and do away with her while you can. Might I recommend Pingu? Little Penguin (he doesn't talk so there's nothing bad to imitate there) and also Charlie and Lola as televised substitutes for Pea. Both Charlie and Lola speak with the most delicious of British accents. I know I want my kid imitating that!

Haha, I love that you whine right back. Good job for breaking her of that habit.

Oh, Caillou is not my favorite. TV in general is such a hot button in my house. Off is best, but I agree -- ya gotta do what ya gotta do!

I remember a bunch of children's books with Max in them... I think they might have come before the series.

Good for you guys for addressing the problem so quickly and effectively!

BTW, is whining back at Pea something from the Love & Logic course?

And if she recognizes how silly whining is when you do it, she might like the book Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late! and others from that series which use a pigeon to point out how silly so many kid tactics are. I think they are adorable and can't wait for Aaron to be old enough to appreciate the humor.

Oh NO!! Caillou is Bear's FAVORITE show right now (yup, on Sprout). I don't like that Caillou throws temper tantrums and gets mad at Rosy, but I never noticed the whining until you just pointed it out! Luckily, Bear isn't much of a whiner (yet) and we generally ignore him when he does it.

But, we have to let him watch something other than Hi-Five (which replays in my head all day long!).

Caillou is such an annoying little guy. His parents need to learn from you and start whining right back at him. That's an episode I would watch!
