My 5 year old is a big fan of celery sticks with peanut butter (or cream cheese) and raisins. One of his favorite lunches is this, string cheese, raspberries and a granola bar.

Sounds like you're on the right track. Be sure to check out EatPlayLove's recent Tuesday Tips <a href="http://eatplaylove.blogspot.com/2008/08/tuesday-tips-is-your-childs-lunch-box.html" rel="nofollow">here</a> before you buy a new insulated lunchbox for Pea. It's really informative, and full of fun little facts that I didn't know.

I just read a blog the other day about school lunches that were way over my head, but may interest you!
http://www.alphamom.com/buzzoff/2008/09/back_to_school_lunchbox_inspir.php
Click through the links, Biggie's Flickr stream is unbelievable. Her blog is lunchinabox.net.
Good Luck! I wish I enjoyed this as much as you do. Packing my girls lunches is nothing but a thorn in my side! For my pre-schooler it is a little easier because they will "heat up", but my oldest just started kindergarten and there is no access to microwaves in public schools, anywhere, that I know of. But, I have been racking my brain to come up with some healthy lunches. Oh, and don't even get me started on the school lunch menu! Hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken nuggets! They teach kids about healthy lifestyles (which is a big step I guess) but what about practicing what they preach! Anyway, GOOD LUCK! Let us know how it goes.

Here's a great link I think you'll find useful: <a href="http://ilunchbox.com/home.php" rel="nofollow">ilunchbox</a>
I don't have kids in school yet but my oldest is starting kindergarten in spring so I thought it would be a great time to start searching. We're just starting to feed our kids healthier so I'm always on a quest for new ideas as well... I love hearing what your kids are eating, thanks for all the tips!

PLEASE let us know if you find anything good out there! Lunch is the hardest meal for me (I've been packing for Bear since he was 1 year old) because you have to worry about food temperature, variety, etc. And Bear doesn't like sandwiches, so that eliminates everything I grew up with. I'll be on the hunt, too!
