Just saw some cute felt advent and hanukkah calendars at Land Of Nod. Not qutie as unique as the ones from Garnet Hill, but may be a good back up if there are any arguements over having two of the same. : )

Good luck with the real tree. Your house will smell AMAZING!

We passed a truck this morning, unloading Christmas trees. You could practically smell the pine needles. Not too much longer after that, my husband announced that this year? He thinks we should do a REAL tree. We’ll see how this goes…

Real is certainly better for the environment. Biodegradable and such. I just figure clean up would be so much easier with an artificial one. ha! And there are so many nice ones on the market.. I’m just talking. I’ll probably end up with the real thing.

We have a fake tree, we’ve had it for several years. I wanted a real one. You know, that whole fantasy of a snowy evening, going to the tree farm with my kids, picking out the perfect tree, tying it to the roof of the car? Well, that was what I wanted. My husband, however, found it offensive to “the trees” to cut them down for our own “selfish needs.” Ironically enough, I seem to recall reading somewhere that it’s actually better for the environment to have a real tree, rather than a fake one. Something about clogging up the landfills, or something along those lines. Still, it looks like we’ll be sticking with our big old fake one, at least for now…

Those are SO cute! I vote for nametags with different colored ribbons. I’m making my brothers advent calendars. I’m duplicating the one I have from when I was little, it was a gift from my aunt. I’m taking pictures along the way, and will be posting them up to share.

Did you see the Advent House from Sur La Table? We’ve got a similar one from PB kids and I’m thinking of purchasing this one as well since I’ve got two kids!
