Willie Bird Ranch. In Sonoma County, California. Where they raise their turkeys well. Eating only the best grains and protein. Free to roam. No pesticides. No chemicals. And the juiciest, most delicious Thanksgiving bird you will ever eat.

I ordered one last year, and I’m telling you, once you eat a Willie Bird, you will never, ever go back. This turkey was unsurpassed. And I’ve had a lot of turkey in my day. Thanksgiving is my most favorite holiday of the year. I take it very seriously. I won’t let anyone else cook it. I just can’t. Control freak? Perhaps. But trust me, you’d love to eat at our home on Turkey Day. The smell of burning leaves in the air. A roaring fire in the fireplace. The sounds of a football game in the background. It is definitely the best holiday of the year.

You can still order one of these, if you haven’t already placed an order at your local market. You have until noon (PST) of the 21st to place your order, in fact. And if you order through Williams-Sonoma, as I did, they guarantee you will have your very own Willie Bird on your doorstep no later then the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.

I believe that Diestel turkeys are available at Whole Foods, but I don’t know if they are seasonal. Willie Birds are mail order. You can get them around the holidays from Williams-Sonoma, or you can order them directly from the Willie Bird farm. They have a website, you can google them and it will pop up. I’ve never had a Diestel, because I’m so loyal to Willie Bird. They are the most fantastic turkeys you will ever eat. Once you have one, you will never go back…

Does anyone know whether Willie Bird turkeys and Diestel Organic turkeys are available in the Chicago Area at all. I’ve heard so much about them that now I want to try them.

Ooooh, I’ll have to check that out as my parents live there and I had no idea that was the place to go! yummm! Happy T day, Melissa!

Oh I think it is a toss-up really between Willie Bird and Diestel Organic (which I buy at Whole Foods). Both are excellent, and I typically switch every year in buying one or the other because I can’t decide which is better! I do think once you have had one of these brands though, you just can’t buy anything else. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and keep those posts coming about gift ideas. I could use more ideas for parents (and specifically buying gifts for parents who can buy anything they want and yet also have no hobbies). I’m stumped in that area!
