Vickie -

I believe that Diestel turkeys are available at Whole Foods, but I don't know if they are seasonal. Willie Birds are mail order. You can get them around the holidays from Williams-Sonoma, or you can order them directly from the Willie Bird farm. They have a website, you can google them and it will pop up. I've never had a Diestel, because I'm so loyal to Willie Bird. They are the most fantastic turkeys you will ever eat. Once you have one, you will never go back...

Does anyone know whether Willie Bird turkeys and Diestel Organic turkeys are available in the Chicago Area at all. I've heard so much about them that now I want to try them.

Oh I think it is a toss-up really between Willie Bird and Diestel Organic (which I buy at Whole Foods). Both are excellent, and I typically switch every year in buying one or the other because I can't decide which is better! I do think once you have had one of these brands though, you just can't buy anything else. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and keep those posts coming about gift ideas. I could use more ideas for parents (and specifically buying gifts for parents who can buy anything they want and yet also have no hobbies). I'm stumped in that area!
