I don’t care who you voted for. I don’t care about your party affiliation. Read this. Listen to this. And then tell me why you are proud to be an American. Today. On the day of the inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States.
We’ve come a long way, baby…

What a powerful story. I didn’t vote for him, but this truly was a remarkable day in history. And I’m honestly hoping that he proves me wrong about him and wins me over. I’m open. Thanks for that link
Thanks Melissa, I missed a lot on NPR on Tuesday, but joyfully watched the inauguration and was (still am!) so moved and proud.
Shocking story.
Awesome day.
That story was shocking. Thank you for the reminder of how far we have come.
That story on NPR gave me the chills. Then, at noon I got chills again watching Obama’s speech.
As a teacher, it was extraordinarily inspiring to sit in an auditorium with children from ages 5-12, all watching the inauguration ceremony on a huge screen and clapping and cheering for our new president. As I told my students, no matter who they (or their parents) supported during the election, it is impossible not to get caught up in the hope and optimism that this new chapter has brought our country.
