the party was a smashing success!

Pea’s fourth birthday party was on Saturday, and I think it’s safe to say that a great time was had by all.

There were beautiful party dresses, chosen just for the special occasion:

There were good friends and lots of laughing:

There was an extra-special birthday cake with not one but two layers – the top was a white cake, dyed pink, and the bottom was raspberry-lemon. To-die-for comes to mind…

There was painting:

There was also a subtle moment of mommy’s tears, just as Pea blew out her candles. That wasn’t caught on camera, thank God.

The next morning, the first words out of Pea’s mouth were, “I’m glad to be your kid.”

Enough said.

We have a good thing going on here. A very good thing, indeed…

Happy Birthday Pea! My girl is turning four next month – four! Where does the time go? No worries though, she has promised to stay little, forever. That’s a relief. Very cute party, I’m sure the kids had a blast. Oh, and I am totally with you on the dance class debaucle, ugh.

She is in fondant, down to the flip-flops! I guess that I should have explained in detail the true beauty that was this cake, since it might have lost something in the photograph. It was fondant, and the Barbie was in deference to Pea, a small price to pay (I say that because anyone who knows me knows that I detest Miss Barbie). The ’splotches’ are not actually flowers, but rather paint splats, which is how I tied the Barbie into the ‘theme’ of the party, which was at Color Me Mine, where the kids were painting their own piggy banks, bowls, etc. It was a spectacular cake, and honestly, so worth the money. There was ONE single piece remaining, which was because our friend just had a baby and would not eat it! Losing the baby weight, and all. Anyway, every single person, other than the new mama, had a piece, and that’s the sign of a truly successful cake. We don’t have 3/4 of a sheet cake jammed into the freezer! If anyone is in the SLC area, I’d love to give you the baker’s info. She is fantastic, a true artist. She does wedding cakes, too. I’ve seen them. Also to-die-for!
