Some of my favorite summer sandals:
This pair from Yellowbox, that raises the bar when it comes to flip-flops. They can go casual or dressy. Love them. Also love their slightly-more-casual younger sister;
this pair has a nice Boho feel about them. Only more chic and less earthy. Love love love;
this pair, in a pared-down gladiator style;
this [...]

How many times have I sent someone a gift from Zingerman’s? Only to have them write me back telling me they’ve completely fallen in love? More times than I can count. Birthdays, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, birth of a baby, death of a loved one, for no other reason than that I am thinking about [...]

Summertime equals skinned knees and bruised shins in our home. Yours too, right?
How cute is this old-school red enamel first aid box? I have to admit, it never occurred to me that I needed one. The plastic school bus-shaped box from an earlier Target first aid kit purchase seemed to be doing just fine.
But…
It’s so [...]

I’m a huge fan of the Tracy Anderson Method. Huge.
But I recently read a tiny blurb somewhere about Barre 3. Apparently it’s Madonna’s newest obsession. And while I do not want Madonna’s freakish arms, come on. For someone her age, she looks amazing. (And no need to throw in a comment about all the minions [...]
all-american classic… »
In high school, I bought piles of used Levis 501 jeans at the local army surplus shop. That habit continued well into college. And then I moved on, with my fancy NYC-lifestyle, to the ridiculous world of over-priced denim. Why? Because if they cost $200 and you could only get them at Barneys? Then they [...]
peacocks are pretty… »
So I know I’ve mentioned Peacock Republic before – it was a post about a year ago about great hostess gifts to give as an alternative to a bottle of wine. Which is always just fine in and of itself, but then what? To open and enjoy with the giver or put away to enjoy [...]
entertaining – backyard style… »
Anyone who knows me knows that I love to host a good time in our home. Summer is my favorite time of the year to have get-togethers because we get to take it outside. Summer evenings here are awesome – there’s a crispness in the air that makes it ideal to be out back.
I just [...]
moving on… »
We are completely addicted to Studio Ghibli movies in our home. And yes, that means that we’ve finally moved on from the Disney princess overload that’d been going on for years.
It all started when the girls were at a friends house and watched “Kiki’s Delivery Service.” That quickly turned into a trip to our local grocery [...]
for stylish running… »
No reason not to look – and feel – like a million bucks when you’re exercising, right? I mean, I don’t want to feel sloppy and messy just because I’m working up a sweat, burning calories and attempting to train for a half-marathon.
My friend showed up at the track this morning in this jacket from [...]

There’s a local clothing boutique here that I just love. As much for their amazing selection of high-quality modern-but-never-trendy pieces as for the woman who owns the place, a true style guru. She always looks amazing. Always. And she wears black leggings with brown boots. And gold and silver bangles all at once. Because, “it’s [...]

I love little kids in clogs. The selection from Cape Clogs is amazing. The one thing I don’t like about kids in clogs?
Clomp. Clomp. Clomp. Clomp…
crazy… »
Have I mentioned that I’m training for a half-marathon this October? I am. And I might just be insane, but I love a challenge. And I am, quite possibly, the most competitive person you’ll ever come across. I can turn anything into a contest. Just ask my slightly annoyed husband.
And now that Pea is out [...]
little ears… »
About two months ago, little Coco ruptured one of her ear drums heading down the mountain. It was brutal. And of course, we took her to the doctor, who mentioned ENT appointments and ear tubes. And as a former kid with ear tubes who loved the water but was told she couldn’t swim much, that [...]

The Secret Lives of Princesses is one of the gifts that Pea received for her 5th birthday. We cannot put it down. Of course, it’s a given that the illustrations are phenomenal; you know I’m a sucker for a pretty picture. But the princesses are hysterical and completely relatable to my own little princesses…
